Continuing Professional Development
The AWLS Course has been recognised by the following for continuing medical education. Please note that our Hump Ridge AWLS Course is CME recognised; there are no changes to the course with just the added extra of the tramp.
ACEM MOPS; AWLS is approved for 38 MOPS points
RACS This educational activity has been approved in the College’s CPD program. Fellows who participate can claim one point per hour (Maximum 23 points) in Category 4: Maintenance of Clinical Knowledge and Skills towrds 2012 CPD points.
AMA 20.5 CME credits
ANZCA CPD has approved the Advanced Wilderness Life Support Course under the following categories:
Didactic Lectures: Category 1 Level 1: 1 Credit per hour
Hands on practical: Category 3/Level 2: 3 Credits per hour
RACP We have consulted the College, and they no longer approve courses for MOPS points, however they have indicated that they believe this activity meets the criteria set out in the College Guidelines for CPD (available on their website)
RNZCGP The “Advanced Wilderness Life Support” event has been endorsed by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP) and has been approved for up to 23 hours CME for General Practice Educational Programme Stage 2 (GPEP2) and Maintenance of Professional Standards (MOPS) purposes.
ACRRM Approved for 21 PDP core points and 12 extended skills points
RACGP AWLS was approved by the RACGP QA&CPD Program in 2010. Total Points: 40 (Category 1). If you wish to receive CME points for this course in 2012 please contact the College.
RANZCOG Fellows who attend the course can claim CPD points on the basis of 1 point per hour of educational activity under “other meetings” in the meeting attendance category of the RANZCOG CPD Program.
RANZCR A total of 22 points can be claimed for attendance on all three days of the “Advanced Wilderness Life Support Course.
Please also note that CPD points for this course can be claimed in Category 7.5 – General Medical Conferences of the RANZCR Diagnostic Radiology CPD Program.
